I Love Free Online Storage Space
In continuation of February's theme I'd like to share another resource that I love. Today's post is about where to find free online storage space.
Why is this important? Think internal hard drive crash. Think viruses and bugs that lock up your system. Think about the hassle of lugging around a heavy external hard drive. Think about trying to keep up with flash drives and SD media cards. And worst of all, think about the pain of having to physically transfer media files, photos, ebooks, yada, yada, from one device to another. Geez.
Keeping my files online saves me a lot of those data-keeping headaches. As a matter of fact, I try not to even save files on my computer's local hard drive anymore if possible. Why? Because all my files that are stored online, or 'in the cloud,' can also accessed at any time from any place where there is an internet connection.
Gotta love that!
The online storage platforms that best suit my needs are Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive. They both offer free accounts that come with 15Gb of web-based storage space per account. Apple's iCloud is also an option offering 5Gb of free storage with their accounts.
And if you already have a Google account did you know Google is giving away an extra 2 gigs of storage space from February 10 - 17, 2015? See the full details on their Google Drive blog by clicking here. All you have to do is update a few security settings on your account. I completed my security check in less that 2 minutes. "Okay Google... Thank you." And if you have no clue why you would need an extra 2 gig then we must chat. :-)
